According to statistics published by the California Energy Commission, in 2022, California imported 307 million barrels of foreign oil.

Not accounted for in the California Energy Commission’s assessments are the environmental and humanitarian records of these countries.  Social and environmental organizations have stated that some of these countries have “questionable to abysmal” histories on both fronts.

Why does California insist on ignoring these realities?  Would it not be more responsible to draw the state’s needs from its domestic production that adheres to the strictest regulation on both social and environmental issues?
